பொன்னமராவதி — Pudukkottai District, Tamil Nadu
An ancient kingdom dating to the 16th century, shaped by the Cholas, the Pandyas, and two kings whose names live in every stone.
Ponnamaravathy — derived from the names of King Ponnan and King Amaran — is a historic town in Pudukkottai district, nestled at the crossroads of the Chola and Pandya civilisations. Its local name Ponnai Maanagar (Gold City) reflects a heritage as rich as the land that surrounds it.
Located 37 km west of Pudukkottai and 410 km from Chennai, the town commands the fertile black-soil plains where rice, sugarcane, groundnut and vegetables grow in abundance. It remains the main market hub for hundreds of surrounding villages.
